Senior Fire Sprinkler Designer
Location: North Carolina
Snowdon Fire Protection Search is recruiting a Senior Fire Sprinkler Designer for a fire protection contractor in North Carolina.
You’ll take ownership of complex commercial and industrial sprinkler designs, working closely with project managers, fabrication teams and field crews. Alongside delivering your own projects, you’ll review designs and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
The Role

Develop sprinkler layouts for commercial and industrial projects, including systems involving multiple hazards, standpipes and fire pumps.
-
Produce coordinated drawings and documentation for permitting, fabrication and installation.
-
Complete hydraulic calculations and assess water supply requirements.
-
Design hangers and seismic bracing in line with project requirements.
-
Review drawings and calculations to identify issues before fabrication or installation.
-
Carry out site surveys and update designs to reflect verified field conditions.
-
Coordinate with other trades to resolve clashes and improve installation efficiency.
-
Manage technical responses to permit review comments.
-
Work with project teams to reduce material waste and unnecessary installation costs.
-
Mentor junior designers and support their technical development.
What We’re Looking For
-
At least four years of fire sprinkler design experience.
-
NICET Level II certification required, with progression toward Level III encouraged.
-
Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD and HydraCALC.
-
Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 14 and NFPA 20.
-
Experience with hydraulic calculations, seismic bracing, standpipes and fire pump coordination.
-
Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project requirements.
-
Confidence managing complex designs independently and communicating with field teams.
-
High school diploma or GED required; a relevant technical qualification is an advantage.
-
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
The position is primarily office based, with site visits as required. There is scope to build on your design experience and progress toward project management responsibilities.
